TUSD Online Chess League (OCL)

OCL logo

Welcome to the future of competitive chess in Tustin Unified!

Formed in the summer of 2022, the OCL is open to all TUSD students in grades six, seven and eight. Weekly, district-wide chess tournaments allow every TUSD player to represent their school, regardless of their experience or skill level. Students learn the importance of sportsmanship, and may improve their critical thinking skills and self-confidence, all while having fun playing chess. Since the league operates entirely online, students quickly realize the importance of reading their email on a regular basis.

Students must first get permission from their parent to play online. After the student and parent have submitted their info to the organizer, the student is sent a Chess.com invitation to join their school club, and an invitation to join our main league club. The student then logs in at Chess.com, accepts the two invitations, and they're ready to go!

Our weekly, hour-long tournaments are played on Wednesdays at 3:30pm.

Want to play? Students who are interested in joining OCL should complete the OCL interest form.

For questions, reach out to Mr. Marsden, CT librarian & OCL organizer.
